Kingston K-14 School District is working to feed our students during the COVID-19 closure. With school out for at least the next couple weeks, our goal is to make sure students stay fed, even out of school. So we are pleased to announce Kingston K-14 School District has partnered with the Department of Health and Senior Services to participate in the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). This partnership will allow us to provide free meals (breakfast and lunch) to Kingston students and children age 18 and younger in a non-congregate setting.
What does that mean for you and your family? Today we will send every student in the district home with a free breakfast for Wednesday morning. Please check their sacks when they get home and place their milks in the refrigerator.
Starting Wednesday, March 18, 2020 through April 6, 2020. We will be offering two options for children to receive their meals on Monday – Friday. We will also be open and running buses to provide meals to children this Friday March 20, 2020.
Option 1 – Buses
- We will be running buses and will be stopping at all scheduled bus stops along our route to deliver meals to students. Pre School children will be serviced on the regular route bus, not the pre school bus routes. Please have someone from your family waiting at the bus stop at 12:05 and be prepared to stay until the bus comes through. Any Kingston student or child under the age of 18 must be present at the bus stop to receive a meal. We must be able to visibly verify the number of children we are serving. If your child is sick that day please make us aware. If you miss the bus drop off, you may come to school during the mobile pick-up
Option 2 – Mobile pick-up for Kingston students or children age 18 and younger from 12:00-2:00
- To participate in mobile pick-up. We ask that you please pull in front of the Main Building. We will have someone waiting in the Middle School Office to serve you. Roll down your window and let us know how many meals you need. We can only provide meals to Kingston students or children under the age of 18 in the car. We will deliver the meal to your
car. Upon delivery please proceed out of the parking lot.
Please note: Kingston is an open site – Open sites operate in low-income areas where at least 50 percent of children residing in the area are eligible for free and reduced-price school meals, based on local school or census data. The meals are served free to any child at the site on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please help us help you, by filling out the census data sheets when you receive them.
